1 EDU Talent Application - Privacy Policy

The privacy of your personal information is of paramount importance to EDU Talent (ABN 929 591 357 11) (referred to as "EDU Talent", "we", "us", or "our").

We are committed to protecting the personal information we collect and hold. We comply with the requirements of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (the Act) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) prescribed by the Act. This Privacy Policy sets out our procedures for handling your personal information and outlines your rights and our obligations in relation to it.

2 What is Personal Information

We collect two main categories of information; Personal Information and Non-Personal Information.

Personal Information (PI)

Personal Information is the foundation of the Privacy Act and the APPs. It is defined as:

Information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable, whether the information or opinion is true or not, and whether the information or opinion is recorded in a material form or not.

In short, if a piece of information (or an opinion) can be used, alone or with other details, to work out who you are, it is Personal Information and is protected by this Policy.

Non-Personal Information (NPI)

We may also collect Non-Personal Information regarding visits to our Site at www.edutalent.com.au and job pages linked within the app (Job Sites). This may include, without limitation:

  • Which sections of the Site and Job Sites are most frequently visited.
  • How often and for how long those sections are viewed.

This data is always used as aggregated, non-personal information, meaning it relates to many users collectively, not one identifiable person. We may share this aggregated data with our partners and prospective advertisers to provide them with information on how visitors 'use' the service, which helps us provide you with the best and most efficient services.

3 Kinds of Personal Information We Collect?

The purpose of the EDU Talent application is to connect job seekers with all non-government education positions across Kindergarten to Year 12 schools in Australia and to provide related recruitment services.

In the course of providing our services, the kinds of personal information we may collect and hold include:

For Job Seekers:

  • Contact and Identity Information: Your first and last name (if you choose to provide it), mobile number, email address, suburb, and state/territory of residence.
  • Employment Details: Generic details related to your education experience, including years of experience in education, current position/role, the education system you are employed in (e.g., Catholic, Independent), and your teaching stream/specialisation.
  • Optional Premium Service Details: If you opt-in for the premium version of the application, we will collect your payment details. This information is not stored by EDU Talent but is processed and securely held by our third-party payment processor, Stripe Australia.

General Information:

  • Usage and Technical Data: Data relating to your activity within the EDU Talent application and on our website, www.edutalent.com.au (the Site), collected via technologies such as cookies, IP address, device ID, browser and operating system type, and referring URLs.
  • Data Centre Location and Provider: Any personal contact information, generic employment details and usage information, will be stored via Hostinger and housed in their Phoenix, USA Data Centre.

4 How We Collect Personal Information

We will only collect personal information where it is reasonably necessary for the functions or activities of our business. Any collection will be fair, lawful, and non-intrusive.

We primarily collect personal information directly from you when you:

  • Establish an account to use the features of our application.
  • Provide your information via our application, website, email, or telephone.
  • Require us to provide services to you.

We may also automatically collect technical information about your use of our application through cookies and other tracking technologies. This is for purposes such as providing personalised content, analysing resource use, and preventing fraud.

5 How We Hold Personal Information

We take active steps to secure all records of personal information to protect it from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure.

  • Electronic Records: Personal information is held electronically on our secure admin panel.
  • Data Storage Location: For job seekers, personal contact information and generic employment details are stored via Hostinger and are housed in their Phoenix, USA Data Centre. By using our application, you consent to the storage of your information outside of Australia.
  • Retention: We have procedures in place to securely destroy or de-identify personal information once it is no longer needed for a valid purpose or required to be kept by law.

6 Account Retention and Deletion

  • Deactivation: If you temporarily deactivate your account, we retain your personal information so you can reactivate it at your discretion.
  • Permanent Deletion: If you wish to permanently close and delete your account, you must contact us at https://edutalent.com.au/contact-us/ to request this. Upon deletion, we will de-identify or destroy all personal information associated with your account, with the exception of your first and last name. We will retain your first and last name in a de-identified log for the sole purpose of allowing schools to identify users who may have previously interacted with or applied through the platform, which is a key part of our service offering to employers.

7 Purposes for Collecting, Holding, Using, and Disclosing Personal Information

We collect, hold, use, and disclose your personal information for the primary purpose of providing our services to you, which is to facilitate connections between job seekers and non-government education opportunities.
